Riding solo again felt so strange after a couple of weeks with lovely company. But hey this is part of the adventure! I was recovered eventhough my stomage continued to fool me. The following days, consisted off the most beautiful dirt roads I ever rode. Endless ascents followed by logicaly endless decents. Riding in really remote areas had the benefit of zero traffic and extremly kind locals. With the roadbook from Andesbybike I never felt lost with the endless options of dirt roads, mine roads and animal paths to choose. It was also a great help for finding food and water along the way. I reached Parras which was two long riding days away from Vilcashuaman in the late moment of sunset. In this region it gets chilly at the same moment as the sun is gone. After one hour or so, searching the responsible person for the municipal hostal, I found him totaly drunk on a nearby wedding. Finally convincing him to hand over key for the room I went off.
But my luck didn’t last long, and I broke the key while it was in the lock… So I ended up with all the drunk guys from the weeding trying to get the remaining rest of the key out of the lock. We had a little argueing about the turning direction of the key to open the lock again. But sure they knew it better, so I went of for dinner. Of course still in cycling cloths and heavily jittering. After around two hours, they collect me at the food place. Somehow, they managed, still drunk, to open the door with a plastic bottle without breaking the lock . No I didn’t see how, and I didn’t want to know it, but I gave them a bunch of beers as reward. I was glad to be in my room, and I was aware now that a locked door is not a big problem to enter for a drunk peruvian. What a nice information to fall asleep with…
The next two days to Huancavelica I climbed my three highest passes of the whole trip and had the most stunning place for a highcamp. In Huancavelica I had some days off, before I started the last part of the Great Divide of Peru to Lima.
nice place. how much money do you spent for this?
